Amazing Pilgrimage

We went to Whitby for pilgrimage with all the members of community. It was amazing even though I was so tired. I was with different core members each day. One day I went on the steam train with core members on wheelchair. I was so worry because I had never been with core member on wheelchair. It was a big challenge for me. So we took minibus to the train station. The other assistants were helping me to get her into minibus. When we got to train station, we had a coke in the coffee shop. Finally at 11am we got in to the steam train. We were sitting together in the train. We talked a lot about her life and how did she wants to get married. I was so glad that I could be with her when she needed somebody to talk. We took a few pictures with her camera. After one hour she said that she got a headache. I offered to give a massage on her head. She said yes and I massaged her. She said that I felt much better after you gave me the massage. I was so happy to hear that. We walked around the town and had lunch at the pub. We also went to shop and bought Irish CD, she likes it a lot. I helped her to toilet when we got back. In the evening we had a party for all of us. She sang a few songs in front of the people. She asked to sing so I sang Hallelujah. She said that she liked this song and I was singing it very good. She was a bit drunk. After late night she decided to go to bed. I helped her to go to her room and got changed. Before she went to bed, she said THANK YOU for helping, I LOVE YOU. It was a very simple words but it just broke my heart. I love her. I will miss her a lot.

A little about me...

I was born and grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia. I'm studying Psychology with education major at Atma Jaya Catholic University. I've not graduated yet. This is the first time I have come to England and to be honest the first time im going abroad. So this is a kind of new experience, trying to live in the country with different cultures. The reason why I want to come is just so simple, I want to do some service. I want to serve God through the 'poor' people. Maybe I wouldn't have got this opportunity in the future so prefered to postpone my study and come to England. I knew about VV from last year's volunteer. She explained everything about VV and their mision for 'poor' people. I was really interested with it so i decided to apply. Also I read about VV from the website. I'm so happy in my work placement. getting the new experiences and serving God through 'poor' people. Im so glad to have Lucy and Peter, living with the community and growing together in the name of Lord. We spend time together, share our sadness and happiness.
