Progress is being made with one of my service users

I am Peter Hamma from Netherley, working in Christopher Grange and St Gregory's parish. Work is going well.  I am feeling like I am actually getting somewhere with one of the service users.  He has some brain damage and I have been having trouble getting much of a result but we are working with a new technique and he is starting to keep the typing in his long term memory.  We have gotten him to learn the home row and some of the top row keys.  It is good to make progress.  The youth club is on midterm break this week so I just went in during the day today to help pain the kitchen.  It really needed the work and it is nice to have my evening free.  Liverpool FC has two big games coming up this week.  I am excited to watch them because they have had eight days without a game.

A little about me...

I am from South Bend, Indiana in the United States. I grew up there and left to go to College at the University of Dayton.  I graduated May 2009 with a double major in Political Science and Communications. I am a lifelong Catholic and continue to practice today. When I was looking for options for my life after graduation service work was one of the options. As I continued to search I found the Vincentian Volunteers in a service book from my school. I later found it online and applied.  I am so glad that I did. This year has been an eye opening experience. It is difficult to be away from your home and family but it is an experience that I have gained so much from. It has inspired me to continue my spirituality as well as taught me how to work with others and how to manage my own life in a foreign country.
