Hello!

My name is Amanda and I'm currently living in Manchester. The last five months have been a whirlwind and have just flew by. Before I know it I'll be on a plane home!

Now, today I was at Mary and Joseph House. This morning I played pool with some of the residents and served tea. Soon I'll be a pro at pool and tea making. On Wednesdays, we have crafts, a group that I help run. Currently we are working on a big mosaic that is going to be framed and placed somewhere in the house. Craft days are fun because we listen to music and sometimes have sing-a-longs. It's also cool to see the creative side of the men. Well, that's about it for today. Tomorrow I'm at CCP and Cornerstone!

Will blog again soon,

Amanda

A little about me...

I was raised in a military family, so I grew up all over the place, from Louisiana to Germany. The past few years I lived in North Carolina and attended college there. I’ve recently graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Social Work. I wanted a gap year because I felt I needed a change. I was after something different and where I could gain some experience. Not to mention it sounded like quite the adventure! It was simple how I found the VVs. A quick search online for service programs and the Vincentians came up. I feel incredibly lucky that I was given this chance! The program has afforded me the opportunity to grow in myself and my faith. I’m certain my experiences so far will prove useful in the future.
