Hi, my name is Stella. I live in Manchester Community. My placements are Revive and Mary and Joseph House. Working in 2 placements has really given me totally different experiences throughout the year. Recently it's very difficult for me to wake up in the morning because of the terible and unexpected British weather plus the struggle to get on the bus. I feel like i want to stuck on my bed all day long:)! But once i reach my placements, I really enjoy my time at work and time just fly by really fast. I can't belive it I've been doing my work for almost 5 months now. I still remember how terrified and worried I was in the beginning. Now all those feelings are gone. Well not all gone because I am learning to do new things everyday:P!

Revive is a very great placement. I work with refugee and asylum seekers around Greater Manchester. And it's been a very nice experience. I get the chanches to meet people from different countries, different cultures and different background. They came to England to avoid persecution in their country, in order to ease their pain and suferrings in the past but yet everything is not easy at all. Their struggles here in England have amazed me. They're trully strong people. I coudn't see my self would be that strong in their position. I guess God has his own plan for each of his creation but I believe there will be happy endings for these people because they deserves it. Every Mon-Wed, I am just doing all my best to help everyone who come to Revive and support the staffs there.

Mary and Joseph House is another great placement. I go there every Thurs-Fri. I have so much fun working with the residents. I involved in doing some activities with the residents such as art, pool competition, dog walking, and newspaper group. Everyday is just fun and we have so much laughter. I wish i could help more but i guess care work need a lot of skills and knowledge which i don't have. Well as I mentioned before, I am doing all my best:)

At the end everyday is a new day to be thankful. I hope God will always keep everyone that i work with safe and warm.

A little about me...

I was born and had been living in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia whole my life. I came from a big family with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. I graduated from law school and worked as a junior lawyer before I came to England. The reason why I decided to leave my job and do the VV Program is just simple: TO DO AN ADVENTURE WHILE I AM YOUNG! So far I found the VV Program very challenging. Placing myself in diverse cultures is the best way for me to learn about tolerance and how to make the best with differences that we would always perceive. Working at 2 placements is really giving me totally different experiences. Of course there are bad days and good days. But in the end seeing my service users' smiles always gives me the best feeling. To see their smiles is the reason I go to work everyday even through the everlasting bad weather in England!! :)
