About Us

We are a group of young people who make a commitment to share a house together for one year and to work with people in need in the community.

We are trying to follow the same journey as Vincent de Paul and Louise de Marillac, two people from 17th century France, who gave themselves to God to make a difference in our world by serving those in need.

Our organisation is young. It began in 1992 with seven young people in Langbank, Scotland. Since then we have continued to gather and during this time over 180 young people have committed a year of their lives to build community with people in need, people whose poverty is often hidden behind the affluence of the West.

In the fifteen years since the programme began there have been groups at different times in different cities: London, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow and Hull.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The Vincentian Volunteer Programme aims to create opportunities and provide inspiration for young people to:

 Deepen their Christian faith

 Be with those in need

Live together in a Christian community

Vincentian Volunteers accept the challenge to live in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul by:

Recognising Christ in the lives of those on the edge of society

Serving others in a respectful, loving and non-judgemental way

Creating a supportive and prayerful environment for one another

Proclaiming through their actions that the love of Jesus leaves them no option.
