Spirituality and development

“A Spirituality is an energising vision, a driving force.  It is the specific way that a person is rooted in God, and relates to the created world” Fr R Maloney CM

Vincentian Spirituality for us means taking  the particular,  energising  vision of St Vincent de Paul - of finding Christ in the lives of others especially in those who are vulnerable or in need - and bringing it to life in our own time and place.

We relate to this spirituality, and will bring it to life as we reach out and touch the lives of others, and, in allowing them to touch us, to change us.  We come from a variety of backgrounds and have experienced our faith in many different ways, but we are united, this year, by the common theme of following in the footsteps of Vincent as he leads us to find Jesus in the heart and lives of those who are poor, and in one other.

We believe our service is rooted in God, and throughout the year we will have many opportunities to help us grow in our understanding of what this means for the rest of our lives.

Spirituality for us includes:

  • Our own prayer time to reflect
  • Our weekly scripture reading,  faith sharing and prayer
  • Our “weekends” away, and our retreat times
  • Our service of others in the spirit of the Gospel

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; therefore he has anointed me.  He has sent me to bring Good News to the Poor…..” St Luke 4:18
