Housing:
Volunteers live in a house in either Liverpool or Manchester, provided by the Trust. The house supplies the basics for daily living including a computer and internet access.
Commitment:
Volunteers try to create a community – a faith community – where each person is respected and valued.
Size:
There are usually three or four in a community, where household duties and responsibilities are shared, and each one cares for the others.
Placements:
Each volunteer has at least one placement in whichever city they are assigned, working for 30 hours a week, with people who are disadvantaged in some way. A second placement is available to most volunteers occupying less hours but which gives another opportunity for the volunteer to use their gifts and talents, and to have more to share with the others.
The difference:
This is a “faith” year as well as a gap year, and all volunteers share their faith with each other and continue to deepen their relationship with God. As part of the input of the year several weekends are arranged - a time for development and relaxation.
