Apply to be a volunteer

If you are interested in becoming a Vincentian Volunteer, please read the information on this page and then follow the process detailed below.

Once you have read the information below, please download the application form, fill it in, and send it back to us. We will also need you to complete the child protection form too

  • The Application Form and Essay are of equal importance, and we will not continue the process if either part is missing. Following the process correctly is the best way you have of showing us of your suitability for the VV programme. Please tell us everything you believe will assist us in making an informed decision.
  • The 3 references are important. They must be from someone who knows you, and who can be objective about your suitability for the programme. One should be from a former employer or teacher/tutor. Please do not use friends or relatives for this purpose. We will contact the referees so make sure that they are willing to give you a reference.
  • After the application form and essay have been received we will contact you to check on details, and, if everything is acceptable you will be invited for an interview. For those living abroad the interview will be by phone with the Director and a member of the Management Committee. The final decision will be made after the interviews.
  • If you are accepted you will be contacted by email, and will be asked to send an acceptance letter.
  • The UK Borders Agency requires all people coming from a non-European country to have a Visa. The Daughters of Charity are official sponsors for the VVs, and they will send you details of how to apply for the visa.
  • If you live outside the UK your acceptance on the VV programme is provisional until you apply for, and receive a police clearance in your own country. Please send it to us as quickly as possible.
  • Placement details and starting dates will be sent to you in July.
